[ Yes, she now has her confirmation that it was in fact an invitation. Is she going to let that stop her from giving him a bit of shit just for the fun of it?
[Laura answers, listening in to this exchange with an intense curiosity. At first, she had thought that maybe she was too much for him to handle and he was looking for a way out. But the more she heard, the more she realized he was just old and too grumpy for life and needed a break.]
He is abandoning me.
[She isn't good at pretending to be dramatic, but she tries just for Storm's benefit. The end result is a flat statement that almost sounds pathetic. Almost.]
[Hearing laughter come from Ororo and seeing a slight smile on his face makes her grin. It's unguarded and warm, and soon she's making a sound close to laughter. She doesn't, however, shoo very far away from the food he's working on. she's got her eyes on it, and makes a grab for it. ]
But you are mine. I should be the one giving you to her.
[She likes seeing him happy like this. He's at ease, and it's a new side of him that leaves her feeling playful. So she keeps up the flat dramatic act, the mine in this sense being a familial claim. ]
[She stubbornly refuses, before prattling off a couple of sentences in Spanish. In the end though, she relents. Not because he's told her to wash her hands but because she wants to talk to Ororo. She tears her wrist out of his hold and stomps her way over to the sink, where she uses no grace at whatsoever to loudly wash her hands.
Without soap.
She glances over at him, sighs like she's really put out, and then washes her hands again. This time with soap. Drying them on her pants, she stomps back over to Logan and holds out her hand expectantly.]
[ Leaning back against the counter, he watches her carry on, the dedicated little drama queen. He'll let the pant wipe go; it's not worth another flurry of threats. On the upside, he's starting to pick up a few key phrases from her, phrases he suspects aren't to be used in mixed company, as they say.
Logan huffs at her remark, punctuating it with the roll of his eyes, but finally hands over the TAB. ]
[ She listens to their little standoff with amusement, making her way over to a window while she waits, as always feeling that unsettling disconnect when she does.
The mansion is the same, but the views from its window most certainly are not.
When she hears that Laura has claimed her prize for washing her hands, she speaks up again. ]
[ He'll just pick his plate up so she can't reach, listening to Laura's end of the conversation. That tricky child!
Once it seems like they've struck an accord, he holds a hand out for the phone. TAB. Whatever, but he neglects to realize he's brought his sandwich within range, too. ]
[Laura doesn't really have any interest in talking over the TAB anymore, so she willingly hands it over. His putting the sandwich within grabbing range means she makes a scramble to grab it right out of his hands so she can eat it instead. Look at her, dad. She's so thin and small. She needs it more.]
You will bring me somewhere too.
[She gloats, smiling as she takes a big bite out of that sandwich (assuming she actually manages to grab it, that is).]

[ There is a hint of dry amusement in her voice, but other than that she doesn't comment on his decision to skip some niceties. ]
I did, yes.
no subject
[ niceties are for people with patience and, like, social grace. ]
You in or not?
no subject
[ Yes, she now has her confirmation that it was in fact an invitation. Is she going to let that stop her from giving him a bit of shit just for the fun of it?
Nope. ]

[ There's a sudden noise of a faucet, while he washes his hands. ]
no subject
I didn't want to assume, you tend to like your alone time.
no subject
Didn't think that'd be the greatest idea right now.

[ Yes, she knows the kid is a little murder machine but she is still a child so her protective instincts are fully engaged here.
Also yes that is her agreeing to come with. ]
no subject
She can fend for herself.
[ Before Ororo can protest, he adds in assurance, ] Don't worry, I'm gonna ask Jean if she'll keep an eye on her.
[ And then, to Laura, who's followed him inside: ] You like Jean, right?

Tell her I promise to give you back when my time is up.
no subject
Storm says she'll give me back. Sounds pretty reluctant.
[ Now let him shoo her away from the food on the counter and toward the sink. ]
no subject
But you are mine. I should be the one giving you to her.

I can tell I'll have to do this properly. Could you hand Laura your TAB for a sec?
no subject
[ He wrinkles his nose at her, the scent of rubber almost overpowering, and his expression turns expectant. ]
Yeah, Laura can talk. Once she's washed her hands.
no subject
No.

You are too old to get married.
[And that's all she has to say about that.]

Knock yourself out, kid.

Hello Laura.

[She softly responds, glancing up at her dad.]
How long will you take him away?
[She may be carefully holding dad's TAB, but that doesn't mean she can't make a sneaky grab for the sandwich again.]
no subject
Just for the evening.
no subject
[She has to actually act like she's deliberating whether or not she'll allow it, obviously.]
When you come back, will you take me somewhere too?
no subject
If you'd like.
no subject
Then I will let you take him.
no subject
[ Such tough negotiations. ]
